Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — A long-vacant building in Summit Township could soon be transformed into a mental health clinic.
The 6,100 square-foot office on Spring Arbor Road, once home to a family medical practice, was purchased in 2022 by Brad Messenger, CEO of Michigan Psychological Care. Plans are in place to renovate the site, with a reopening targeted for fall 2025.
Jackson County Board Chairman Steve Shotwell says the project is a win for the community, turning an aging structure into a vital resource for mental health services.
This week, county commissioners approved a brownfield plan to aid redevelopment, addressing environmental concerns. The $1 million project includes a full remodel, ADA upgrades, and hazardous material removal.
Once complete, the clinic will employ about 20 mental health professionals, offering counseling services for anxiety, depression, and trauma recovery.
