The Michigan Aeronautics Commission and the Michigan Department of Transportation have announced $4 million total in grants to be awarded to 33 Michigan airports for improvement projects.
Included among those airports are the Jackson County Airport (Reynolds Field) and the Hillsdale Municipal Airport. The Jackson County Airport received just over $127,000 to go toward crack sealing and pavement markings. The Hillsdale Municipal Airport received more than $147,000 for similar repairs and the purchase of a John Deere 5095M utility tractor for snow removal.
The grant funds in general are meant to help airports with clearing obstructions, repairing runways, upgrading lighting, building hangars, and acquiring operations equipment.
