Swift Police Response Leads to Arrests in Springport Township Break-In

Authorities in Springport Township responded swiftly to a breaking and entering in progress Sunday afternoon. Around 2 p.m., STPD officers rushed to a property on the 14,000 block of Springport Road after the owner spotted two suspects breaking in on surveillance cameras.

Officers arrived within minutes, taking one suspect into custody while the second fled inside and attempted to hide. Backup was called, and Michigan State Police troopers set up a perimeter. An MSP K-9 unit was brought in, successfully locating the suspect inside.

Both individuals were arrested without further incident. One suspect, a 43-year-old man from Albion, was also wanted in Calhoun County on felony weapons charges. The other, a 33-year-old Springport Township man, was also taken into custody.

Both are now lodged in the Jackson County Jail on breaking and entering charges, awaiting arraignment. STPD officials thanked Michigan State Police for their crucial assistance in the arrests.
