Applications are being accepted for the 2025 Citizen Police Academy on behalf of the Jackson Police Department and the Jackson County Office of the Sheriff from now until March 1. The CPA is aimed at citizens wanting to gain first-hand knowledge of the daily operations and procedures of Jackson law enforcement. Topics covered include: police K-9, firearms instruction, narcotics investigations, and use of force applications. Participants will also have opportunities to ride on patrol with an officer and test their shooting skills at the range with a firearms instructor. Any Jackson County resident is encouraged to apply.
Those selected will meet for ten consecutive Wednesdays beginning April 8 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The CPA graduation ceremony is planned for May 28. Applications are available at the Jackson Police Department and the Sheriff’s Office, and can also be turned in at those locations.
