A Houston man has pleaded guilty to leading a violent Jackson-based street gang involved in fentanyl trafficking.

Federal prosecutors say 28-year-old Tamarious “Poogi” Faulkner admitted in court Tuesday to running the “Thorough Bread Family,” a gang that distributed large amounts of fentanyl in Jackson and surrounding areas. Authorities say the drugs had a unique rock-like texture and were often colored yellow, purple, or blue.

Faulkner and his gang also possessed firearms to protect their operation. Six of his co-conspirators have already been sentenced to prison, receiving terms ranging from five to over ten years.

Acting U.S. Attorney Julie Beck says gangs like this put communities at risk through drugs and violence.

Faulkner faces at least 10 years in prison when he’s sentenced on April 29.
