Jackson, Mich. (WKHM, Marc W. Daly) — Michigan Senate could be addressing a set of bills during the final session of 2024 that would protect maternal fetal health. Senator Shink said this package of bills is mostly a watchdog and not going to be costly for the state.

The bill would also address patient advocacy, discrimination, help to ensure a safe plan of care for babies born to moms with drug addiction, and encourage more midwives. Senator Shink recently met with Tim Boring, the Director of Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. She said they had a healthy conversation and they are planning listening sessions coming up in the spring.
