Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — A man on parole for a prior manslaughter conviction has been found guilty of fatally shooting his childhood friend in Jackson. On Friday, a jury convicted 32-year-old Blake Curran of second-degree murder, felony firearm use, and resisting arrest for the 2020 death of 25-year-old Darold Goodloe Jr.

Goodloe was shot multiple times in his SUV in June 2020 and passed away six weeks later from his injuries. Prosecutors say Goodloe identified curran as the shooter at the scene and in ambulance footage before he died. Evidence presented in court included Curran’s fingerprints on the vehicle and surveillance video showing him and Goodloe interacting outside a nightclub earlier that night.

Defense attorneys questioned the clarity of Goodloe’s statements and pointed to unanswered questions about the events leading up to the shooting. Curran fled to Florida after the incident but was arrested weeks later in Jackson. He now faces sentencing on January 22, with the possibility of life in prison.
