ambulance-rushing

Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — In Napoleon Township, a tragic crash Wednesday at the intersection of Brooklyn Road and Napoleon Road left one woman dead and two men hospitalized. Police reported that a red Kia SUV, driven by 79-year-old Gary Burnette of Napoleon, was turning left onto Brooklyn Road when it collided with an oncoming tractor-trailer.

Witnesses and dashcam footage indicate the SUV turned into the tractor-trailer’s path, causing the collision. Ruth Ann Burnette, 80, a passenger in the SUV, suffered critical injuries and later died at Henry Ford Hospital. Gary Burnette remains hospitalized in serious but stable condition.

The tractor-trailer driver, a 40-year-old man from Ironwood, was also treated for injuries but has since been released. The crash closed the intersection for about two hours as crews cleared the scene.
