Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Nate Courtright travels hours, multiple times a year to find instruments for his band kids. The Vandercook Lake Middle School & High School band teacher conducts fundraisers throughout the year to support his students. So it’s no surprise that when WKHM’s sister station K105.3 asked for the community’s nominations to award one deserving teacher a grant of $1,053 for classroom supplies, Courtright was selected as the recipient.
One of his students, Alyssa Jones, wrote in her nomination that he goes above and beyond to provide the best experience possible. For all his efforts and the longstanding impact he has made, Courtright won this grant from K105.3 and participating sponsors. He was surprised with the news Tuesday morning with J-Rod and Micki from the K105.3 Morning Show.
Mr. Courtright explains where he gets his drive:
Congratulations to Mr. Courtright on winning the Tag-A-Teacher grant from K105.3 and our participating sponsors Stowe Insurance Agency, Cricket Wireless, Brown Floral, Emmons Service, and Brooklyn Plumbing, Heating & A/C.
