Leoni Township, Mich. (WKHM, Greg O’Connor) — Early Friday morning, just after 3 a.m., two bail bonds employees of Leo’s Bail Bonds located a bail violator on Sargent Rd. with a passenger in the vehicle. The bond workers attempting to follow the vehicle were shot at.

Blackman Public Safety picked up what turned into a high speed chase that ended in Grass Lake Township, when the suspect’s vehicle hit a Michigan State Police patrol car. The driver, a 41-year-old, tried to escape on foot. The chase didn’t last long and he was arrested. The 25-year-old passenger remained in the vehicle and was also arrested.

A gun was located in the vehicle and both men are facing a wide variety of felony charges. None of the police involved fired a weapon and no one was injured.
