Thursday April 18th, Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety was dispatched for a shooting that occurred in the 1400 block on Longfellow Avenue in Blackman Township. Officers were advised a female subject had been shot.
When officers arrived, they found a 27- year-old female with injuries. A description of the suspect was provided by the female, along with other witnesses. The male suspect was seen leaving the scene in a white Mercedes-Benz. The vehicle was located a short distance away, where the suspect fled on foot.
After a short check of the area, the suspect was located hiding in the 1800 block of Wildwood Avenue. As officers approached the subject, he was found with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officers on the scene attempted life-saving measures but were unsuccessful and he was pronounced deceased.
The incident is under investigation as to what lead to the shooting.
At this time, the victim is listed in stable condition at Henry Ford Hospital.
The suspect was identified as Shane Anderson, a 33-year-old male from Jackson, Mi.
