In November Hanover-Horton schools superintendent John Denney informed the school board that he would be stepping down at the end of the 2023-2024 school year. The school board held a special meeting before their regular meeting on Dec 11th to discuss their options and unanimously passed a motion to begin contract negotiations with Denise Bergstrom.
Denise Bergstrom has been serving the school distract for over 30 years as a teacher and a principal, she is the only Hanover-Horton administrator to express interest in the superintendent position when the school board sought internal candidates.
Bergstrom has stated that the primary goal as superintendent will be to maintain an “open door” policy that makes everyone involved within the district to feel comfortable approaching her with their needs.
The contract negotiation process will begin soon and Bergstrom is set to officially take over the role as superintendent at HHS July 1st, 2024 according to board President Chris Blackledge.
