A BP pipeline headed to Metro Detroit spilled thousands of gallons of gasoline Tuesday night.
It happened around 9:30 p.m. just east of Battle Creek. Around 8,400 gallons of gasoline spilled out of the pipeline. EPA and state crews are working to clean up the spill and remove contaminated soil. The pipeline runs from Whiting, Indiana to refineries in River Rouge. Residents in the area were evacuated and won’t return until the air and water are safe.
