WKHM News spoke with Brown’s Advanced Care Pharmacy’s Austin Brown to find out who is eligible to receive a second COVID 19 booster. “At this time adults 50 and up can get the additional booster, either Pfizer or the Moderna”.
Brown went on to say that people 12 and up who have “compromised” immune systems should “talk with their pharmacist or doctor to see what they should do for their booster series as well” but as of now the shot is limited to those over 50 who have received their initial booster at least 4 months ago.
According to Brown, we continue and will continue to see additional government approval for boosters as the months wear on and we approach the upcoming Fall Flu season. He also stated that there are new vaccines being tested that have a longer effectiveness that may make the need for boosters less frequent.
