Salvation Army launches Red Shield Benefit

Jackson, MI – The Third Annual Red Shield Benefit event presented by American 1 successfully launched on Facebook and YouTube August 31, 2020 and will be available as an event until December 31. To date the event has achieved 15% of the necessary $60,000 goal.

“As rent, utilities, and other bills come due after government assistance is depleted and many organizations offered three-month deferments and eviction moratoriums. The Salvation Army is working hard to be ready to assist our community’s most vulnerable citizens; what many don’t recognize is that this pandemic overlaps with may existing epidemics – including hunger and homelessness” said Jose Tamayo, Corps Officer for The Salvation Army of Jackson County. The community need is great, since the beginning of the pandemic, The Salvation Army USA has provided 155% more meals than this time last year. Here in Jackson we need community support more than ever and it is vital that we reach our goal to be able to respond to the dramatically increased need during the coming months. “We sincerely appreciate the many individuals and businesses that have stepped up to help our neighbors; please join us.”
