The Jackson Police Department is investigating the homicide of 30-year-old Shameka Oliver. JPD officers were dispatched to a home in the 1200 block of Chittock Ave. around 7:00 AM on Thursday after a report of shots being heard. The victim lived at the location and was discovered outside the home and pronounced dead at the scene. The victim had suffered a single gunshot wound.
A 33-year-old suspect at the scene was taken into custody and housed at the Jackson County Jail. The man is an acquaintance of the victim.
