In a press release, Habitat for Humanity is partnering with Consumers Energy to raise funds for affordable housing in Jackson with the 8th annual Home Run for Habitat.
Habitat for Humanity affiliates across Michigan are encouraging their communities to help support Habitat in raising their goal of $200,000. “Greater Jackson Habitat for Humanity’s Homeowner Program helps low income families in Jackson learn how to be successful homeowners, build homes with them, and sell the home to them with an affordable mortgage. This program has a far-reaching impact on our community. Stability in housing allows people to become productive and excel in other areas,” said Wendy Clow, Executive Director for Greater Jackson Habitat for Humanity.
To assist in meeting Habitat’s goal, Consumers Energy is pledging $1 for every $2 the public donates to Home Run for Habitat up to $100,000. This partnership strives to produce affordable, energy-efficient housing across both of Michigan’s peninsulas. “Consumers Energy is committed to the Michigan communities we serve, and to ensuring that all residents have safe, affordable places to live,” said Brian Rich, Consumers Energy’s senior vice president for customer experience. “Home Run for Habitat puts dollars directly into building housing that helps people across our state. We hope Michigan residents will step up to the plate with this campaign.”
Home Run for Habitat runs during the Detroit Tigers regular season, wrapping up on September 29, 2019.
