Jackson Mayor Derek Dobies joined WKHM this morning, and talked about the first meeting of the Jackson Environment Commission.
From an informal group to an official city commission, Dobies said that it was “Something that we started last year to really help figure out how we can build a cleaner and greener city here in Jackson.” From the the commission, they hope to improve the city’s landscape, “We hope to pull from that to set forth the policies and proposals that we can talk about on City Council.”
Additionally, Mayor Dobies talked about the road plans, “Over the last year we really focused on getting our roads fixed and coming up with some plans to go about doing that and we’ll be talking about what those mean in the coming year before the November ballot,” Dobies said. “Roads and infrastructure are top among my list. getting out into our neighborhoods and taking some of the progress we’ve had downtown out into the neighborhoods.”
