Mayor Proposes Deferred Payments for Federal Workers

Jackson Mayor Derek Dobies has made a proposal which would allow federal workers living in Jackson who were affected by the government shutdown to defer payments owed to the city for things like water bills. The proposal would give federal employees 60 extra days to make those payments. After the president made an announcement Friday afternoon temporarily ending the shutdown, Dobies said the city should still consider deferring the payments and give families some time to recover financially.
