The Fall Jackson Coin Show is Saturday at the American Legion #29.
WKHM will be broadcasting live from 9am-11am. To give us a preview of the show, we brought in Roger Petersen of Petersen Jewelers to tell us about it. “We only do 2 a year, the Jackson Area Coin Club puts it on. It’s at the American Legion Post on Lansing Ave. The one with the big tank out front is what I tell everybody, just before you get to Parnall Road.” Petersen said. “We’d love to have families out there. Aspiring collectors, novice, and people that have collected coins for years. We’ve got dealers coming from all over the country coming. Free admission, free parking, hourly door prizes; and all of the kids that come in get free coins.” We asked Roger what the coin collecting world needs right now. His response is the same as many other hobbies, they need an injection of young people. “We need more kids. It seems like its getting where all the adults that have collected coins are in their 40s or older. we do have some youngsters coming in and starting because their parents collected coins, or grandparents. It’s something we feel if we don’t do coin shows for the community, it just goes by the wayside, and kids just don’t understand what goes into it.”
The Coin Show runs from 9am to 3pm at the American Legion Post #29, and the kitchen will be open. For more info, call 745-9065.
