The Jackson community has been invited to the unveiling of a new mixed use development that will continue the private investment and growth in downtown Jackson.

On Friday Sept. 28 at 11:00 a.m., city officials and local business leaders will gather on the 200 block of N. Jackson Street to unveil a sign that marks the beginning of an exciting new residential and commercial development that will take shape over the next year. The unveiled sign will feature a rendering of the project and design details. The vacant piece of land on N. Jackson Street has been of interest to developers for two years.

Studies performed by the local Young Professionals group found that a new mixed use complex would be a viable addition to Jackson, serving the needs of young professionals looking for housing downtown.

Working with the City of Jackson, the project is spearheaded by Jackson Downtown Partners (JDP), a group of local business professionals interested in the current and future prosperity of the Jackson community. JDP worked with its design team, Studio Intrigue Architects, to develop a plan to meet the needs of young professionals who would like to live in downtown Jackson.

They’ve envisioned a new development named The 200. The contemporary building will stand four stories tall, with three floors of upscale apartments and 4,100 square feet of commercial space on the first floor. Plans call for 82 market-rate units. 80 percent of them will be studio or one-bedroom apartments, with the rest of the units providing two-bedroom apartment living.

Future residents will enjoy high-end amenities that include the latest technology to contribute to environmentally responsible energy creation and use. Construction is expected to start in April 2019, with leasing beginning in Dec. 2019.

The 200 is bringing a $13 million investment into the city of Jackson. JDP says the mission of The 200 is to be the premier commercial and residential place in the Jackson community. This development is a collaboration of Mercer Construction, County National Bank, the City of Jackson, Studio Intrigue Architects, and the Jackson Smart Energy District of Consumers Energy.
