The word ‘bittersweet’ was used quite often to describe Sunday’s final event at the Jackson Harness Raceway.
Tripp’s Auto Shop and Collision Centers hosted one final day of racing, in order to give a proper goodbye to the legendary track at the Jackson County Fairgrounds. The first race of the final day was a runaway win for Mom’s Art, driven by the legendary Canadian Peter Otten. You can hear track announcer James Witherall’s call here.
After the race, GOC spoke to Peter Otten about his smooth ride on Mom’s Art. “We did pretty good, it’s the first time I got to drive that horse, and it just worked out for our advantage and it was fun doing it.” Otten said.
Longtime Jackson Harness Raceway driver Kim Pluta was a big part of the Sunday finale as well. “I’ve been down here just about everyday for about two weeks, so it is bittersweet. It’s nice to see all these people though, this is the greatest moment in probably my racing career to see all these people for the last day at Jackson.”
