Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — A 54-year-old Summit Township man is in serious condition after being stabbed Sunday night in Jackson County.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says the stabbing happened just before 8 p.m. in the 2200 block of Francis Street. Witnesses reported that a 74-year-old Jackson man pulled a pocket knife during a dispute over money. When the victim tried to intervene, he was stabbed multiple times in the chest and abdomen.

The suspect fled on foot but was tracked by a K-9 to a home on Martin Luther King Blvd. With help from Jackson police, officers executed a search warrant and arrested him without further incident.

The suspect is now in the Jackson County Jail, and prosecutors are reviewing charges. The victim was taken to Henry Ford Hospital for treatment.
