Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — As of Sunday night, Consumers Energy had reported 195,000 outages statewide, Great Lakes Energy had 45,000 in western Michigan, DTE counted 35,000 in the east, and Presque Isle Electric & Gas Co-Op had 23,000 in the northeast.

Presque Isle Co-Op officials say this storm is more extreme than usual, with some areas coated in over half an inch of ice. They warn outages could last several days. Consumers Energy expects many customers will remain without power until Tuesday or even Wednesday.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer has activated the State of Emergency Operations Center to assist affected communities.

The storm brought winds over 95 mph to Jackson, knocking down trees and power lines. In Muskegon, an elementary school lost its roof.
