Jackson County Sheriff Gary Schuette reports that a suspect has been arraigned on multiple firearms charges, domestic assault, and felonious assault. 32-year-old Devonte Alan Eatmon (pictured below from the Jackson County Office of the Sheriff) was taken into custody and lodged at the Jackson County Jail on Saturday, March 15 after Deputies responded to a report of shots fired inside of a residence in the 800 block of 18th Street in Summit Township.

Initial information obtained was that a male suspect had threatened to kill his family and had discharged a firearm inside the residence. Responding Deputies were able to get all of the occupants out of the residence safely, and then conducted an investigation.

Through interviews, Deputies learned that a domestic incident occurred where the suspect pointed a firearm at his fiancé, threatened to kill her, and discharged a firearm twice. A search of the residence resulted in a firearm being recovered and evidence of shots being fired into the kitchen floor.

This past Monday, March 17, the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office authorized charges against Eatmon of weapons-firearms discharge in or at a building, felonious assault, weapons-firearms possession by a prohibited person, and domestic assault. Eatmon has been arraigned on the above charges and remains in jail, and his bond has been set at $25,000. For further information, the Sheriff’s Office says to contact Sheriff Gary Schuette at 517-768-7924.
