Jackson Mayor Daniel Mahoney Comments on Pay to Park Pause and State of the City Address

mayordan

City of Jackson Mayor Daniel Mahoney, during his regular Wednesday morning time on AM Jackson, gave comments on the City’s decision to pause their implementation of a metered parking system (pay to park) in downtown Jackson. The Mayor said he received a call from a Jackson business owner who was concerned about how the new system would impact her business, and that many other business owners in Jackson feel the same way.

A special meeting of the Jackson City Council has been called for Wednesday, March 26 at 7pm to reevaluate the decision, which the City says was necessary after receiving feedback from the community on this issue. Mayor Mahoney spoke about the options the City has on this issue moving forward.

The Mayor will speak at the State of the City Address, which begins at 6pm this evening at the City Center located at 145 W. Courtland Street (former Masonic Temple). Mayor Mahoney talked with WKHM about what this event means to the City.

The City Center has received a significant amount of construction work this past year, and a tour of the building showcasing the progress will be a part of the State of the City festivities.

The State of the City Address is free to attend and is open to all residents. A recording will be made available on the City’s website and YouTube page following the conclusion of the event.
