A major renovation project is coming to Jackson’s south side, where more than 80 low-income housing units will undergo their first full rehabilitation in over five decades. Kings Community Homes plans to begin the $6 million project in late summer 2025, with each unit receiving interior upgrades and landscaping improvements. The work is expected to take about a year.
The Jackson City Council has approved a tax incentive to help fund the project, which will be supported by low-income housing tax credits and financial reserves. Current residents will not be displaced, with temporary housing options available if needed. Officials say the improvements will significantly enhance the neighborhood’s housing quality.
