A man accused of making threats that led to a two-day closure of all Hillsdale district schools is heading to trial.
Kevin Noah Minder, 29, was bound over to the Hillsdale County Circuit Court on March 12 after a preliminary examination. He faces charges of terrorism, malicious use of a telecommunications device, and felonious assault in connection with an incident that prompted the January shutdown of Hillsdale Community Schools.
Prosecutors say that on January 27, a staff member at Gier Elementary received a voicemail from the suspect, who claimed to know their address and threatened to bring a weapon to the school to harm students and staff.
After Minder was identified as a suspect, but couldn’t be immediately found, Superintendent Ted Davis decided to close the district for safety. The closure ended when Minder was arrested in Lucas County, Ohio, on January 29. His bond is set at $25,000. The case will be heard by Circuit Court Judge Sara Lisznyai.
