Newly elected Jackson County Prosecutor Kelsey Guernsey was sworn in at the Jackson County Courthouse in the courtroom of Judge John G. McBain at noon on Thursday. Guernsey is the first woman to serve as County Prosecutor for Jackson, and while that may be seen as a sweeping change, she told WKHM that she has no need to make major adjustments to the Prosecutor’s Office.
Guernsey also spoke about a couple of issues that she sees as ones that could use addressing in Jackson, specifically gun violence and drug addiction.
Before signing the paperwork that would officially swear her in, Guernsey made sure to thank her family, staff, and supporters who helped her get to where she is while emphasizing the enthusiasm she has for serving Jackson County as its prosecutor.
