Jackson, Mich. (WKHM, Marc W. Daly) — Jackson County’s Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has a new leader with deep local roots and a long history in child welfare. Jaclyn Caroffino officially stepped into the director role on November 25, succeeding Zoe Lyons, who retired after 34 years with the department.

Caroffino has been with DHHS since 1999, holding roles such as Child Protection Service Specialist, Child Care Consultant, CPS Supervisor, and Children’s Services Program Manager for the past decade. She brings a wealth of experience and a commitment to equity, safety, and well-being for the community.

A Jackson native and graduate of Napoleon Community Schools, Caroffino earned her bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and a master’s degree from Eastern Michigan University, both in social work. She also teaches child welfare at Spring Arbor University.

With her extensive background, Caroffino looks forward to collaborating with community partners to advance the mission of DHHS.
