Sheriff Gary Schuette reports on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at 11:20pm, Deputy’s from the Jackson County Office of the Sheriff responded to the area of N. Lake Road near E. Michigan Ave in the Village of Grass Lake for a report of multiple shots fired.
After a thorough search of the area, a suspect was located hiding nearby in bushes. A subsequent investigation revealed spent and live shotgun casings located near the suspect. Deputies recovered a shotgun and additional ammunition from the suspect’s residence. Deputies located damage to a nearby barn light, gas station camera, and an Amtrak sign. Jackson Sheriff’s Office contacted the Amtrak Police regarding the damage to their property.
Deputies arrested the 26-year-old suspect from Grass Lake for felony malicious destruction of property and illegal discharge of a firearm. The suspect is lodged at the Jackson County Jail pending charges from The Jackson County Prosecutor.
