Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — A man is in the hospital after accidentally shooting himself during an arrest. Michigan State Police say the incident happened Thursday afternoon around 3 p.m. in Leoni Township.
Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies were attempting to arrest the man when he pulled out a gun. Deputies responded by deploying their tasers, causing the suspect to discharge his firearm and shoot himself.
The man was taken into custody and transported to the hospital for treatment. Once he recovers, police say he will be moved to jail. Michigan State Police are investigating the incident. No details on the man’s age have been released.
