Jackson county and city officials weigh in on primary election ballot

Jackson, Mich. (WKHM, Greg O’Connor) — August 6, 2024 is Primary election day and the recreation millage has what might be considered two confusing pieces. One is a Jackson Parks millage that is attached to Jackson Public Schools. Second is that it is not a new millage, but it’s also not a true renewal. It is a millage with a small increase:

 

County Commission Chair Steve Shotwell commented on the jail millage recently on WKHM:

 

Shotwell says it is a critical voting day for the county. He suggested this could come back in November if not successful.

County Commission candidate in the 8th District, John Wilson, blames county officials for not jumping on funding available to at least lighten the load on homeowners:
