Jackson, Mich. (WKHM, Greg O’Connor) — The celebration of the life of Herb Elfring, one of a handful of remaining Pearl Harbor survivors, longtime employee of Consumers Energy, and longtime member of the Kiwanis club of Jackson, will be held this morning at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in downtown Jackson. A large turnout is expected.
Elfring was, as Joe Wolfe put it, a “rock star” every December 7 at the Pearl Harbor remembrance:
Donations in Herb’s memory may be made to OneStopVeteran.org, founded by Herb himself, to the Kiwanis Club of Jackson, or First United Methodist Church.
