State of the City and GOC Receives Key to the City

The Mayor of Jackson delivered his third State of the City Wednesday evening (3/20/2024) at the City Center, formerly known as the Masonic Temple on Courtland. Before Daniel Mahoney gave his address, he told us what he hoped would be the take-aways for the evening.

The mayor said the City of Jackson is more resilient than ever. He referenced successes over the past year including the 100-homes project with over 550 applicants for the program. He talked about the ground breaking of the Blackstone Apartments. Daniel Mahoney highlighted the financial support for the MLK corridor, Public Safety, Investments in the Kiwanis Trail, Ella Sharp putt-putt course, and the Boos Centers as all positive action taken by the City this past year. In the coming year the Mayor said he would like the City to focus on creating a plan to pay for and fix the roads, create a broadband task force and a skills trade task force. He wants to attract a grocery story to the south side, put an emphasis on neighborhood parks, develop the new City Center. In closing, the Mayor said the Hayes Hotel project is going to happen.

Mayor Mahoney concluded his presentation by handing out two keys to the city. The first went Georgia Fojtasek, retired CEO of Henry Ford Allegiance. The other key went to a pillar of our community, our coworker, and friend.

GOC received a standing ovation and shared this moment with family and friends.

Greg concluded with loving and heartfelt comments for his wife Therese, whom he said his success would not be possible without her support.

Greg, congratulations and well deserved. Everyone at McKibbin Media Group loves you and we are so very proud of you.
