Brooklyn, Mich. (WKHM) — Jim Knutson, best known around WKHM as “Mr. Outdoors,” longtime business and community leader in the Brooklyn area, passed away last Thursday surrounded by his loving family on his 85th birthday.
Jim founded Knutson’s Recreational Sales & Service in Brooklyn, which actually started as a bait shop back in the late 60’s and continued to grow over the years to a complete outdoor headquarters. He was also very passionate about snowmobiles and motorcycles and sold those products for a number of years.
Jm was extremely active in the Brooklyn business and school community and sponsored hundreds of events over the years. Most importantly, he was a role model as a family man to his wife, children, and grandchildren.
A remembrance service will be held Saturday, November 4 at the Super 8 in Brooklyn. He will be laid to rest in his home state of Minnesota.
