Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — A Michigan State Police (MSP) trooper was dragged nearly a mile while trying to arrest a suspect during a traffic stop in Jackson County Sunday morning.

As the trooper pulled over a vehicle in Summit Township, MSP says an altercation occurred and the driver was able to get back in his car as the trooper was trying to arrest him. That suspect took off speeding, with the trooper hanging out of the driver’s side window, being dragged for about 3/4 of a mile before falling off.

The trooper was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and released. The suspect fled the scene in a maroon Chrysler 300. Police are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information on the incident, or that finds the officer’s bodycam that fell off during the scuffle, should contact the Michigan State Police Jackson post.
