Hosted by the Jackson County Michigan Historical Society and the Jackson County Parks & Recreation Department, this ceremony is free to attend.

According to the Historical Society, original portions of the Jackson County Fairgrounds were purchased by the Jackson County Agricultural Society in 1856 from the widow of Dr. Oliver Russ (1795-1846), Jackson’s first resident physician. This story and others will be featured on the new marker.

The Jackson County Fair takes place August 6 – 12.
