Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — The City of Jackson is hosting a National Night Out Tuesday, August 1 in Loomis Park from 6 to 8 p.m. This nationwide program is an event organized by local officials with an aim to bring residents, police officers, and firefighters closer together through fun-filled events.

At this free event, which is open to all ages, there will be games, prizes, face painting for kids, local vendors, and a free bike raffle. Residents will also be able to meet police officers and firefighters and get an up-close look at patrol cars, fire trucks, and ambulances.

“It’s important to provide an opportunity for our residents and public safety to come together and celebrates what unites us,” said Ward 2 Councilmember Freddie Dancy, who is helping organize the event along with the Jackson Police Department, the City of Jackson Group Violence Intervention Program, and the B2 Watchers Neighborhood Group. “This event strengthens existing relationships and forms new bonds so we can continue to make Jackson a great place to live.”
