Mackinac Island, Mich. — A cannon salute will officially mark the 2023 season at Fort Mackinac.
Something new for this year – the theater and museum store have traded places. They say the swap will help advance their plans for future seasons.
Also, a new program titled “Soldiers Gear and Quartermasters Storehouse” will give a glimpse into the standard issued items given to soldiers in the 1880s.
Visitors can still expect rifle and cannon firing demonstrations. Meanwhile, the Mackinac Island State Park Visitors Center, located on Main Street, opens for the season on Friday.
