Jackson, Mich. — Runners, get ready for the first-ever ‘Shamrock Shuffle’ 5K Run/Walk on Friday, March 17 at 5:30 p.m. in downtown Jackson, which happens to be St. Patrick’s Day. Runners who sign up by the earlybird deadline of February 28 will pay just $25 each and will be guaranteed a T-shirt. The price goes up to $30 from March 1 through March 16, and $40 on race day.

The Shamrock Shuffle is a fundraiser for the Jackson YMCA’s Strong Communities campaign, which provides financial assistance to make sure everyone can enjoy the programs at the Jackson YMCA regardless of finances.

“We’re not just a gym, we’re a place where people can come and the community can come to be together,” says Sam Hunt, Sport & Camp Director at the Jackson YMCA. Hunt also says that downtown Jackson bars & restaurants may be partnering with the Y to offer specials for runners as they finish the race.
