Lansing, Mich. — A Haslett woman has been charged with murder from an incident in March 2022.
The 33-year-old mother, who has been identified as Claire Elizabeth Powers, was kayaking with her son on Lake Lansing when the kayak flipped upside down and the two had to be pulled from the lake and transported to Sparrow Hospital. The child was pronounced dead shortly after.
Powers was arrested January 18, 2023 and is being held in the Ingham County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
