SUMMIT TOWNSHIP, MI – A 69 year old Jackson woman is listed in critical condition after she was struck on her bicycle near the corner of Weatherwax Drive, and Park Road.
Jackson County Sheriff Gary Schuette reported on Tuesday, January 10th, 2023 at 6:16 pm, Deputies from the Jackson County Office of the Sheriff responded to a vehicle /pedestrian crash. When Deputies arrived on scene, they discovered the woman on the shoulder of the road after she was struck by a Hyundai passenger vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, a 36 year old Jackson man had left the scene, but later returned to be questioned by Deputies. The vehicle was then located by The Sheriffs Office at a residence in Summit Township. The woman who operated the bicycle was transported to Henry Ford Health by Jackson Community Ambulance. She sustained serious injuries and her status is listed as critical condition.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Jackson Community Ambulance along with Summit Township Fire Department.
The crash remains under investigation at this time by investigators from the Jackson County Office of the Sheriff.
