Jackson, Mich. — Since 2019, McKibbin Media Group (MMG) has hosted an annual Charity Radiothon on K105.3 to benefit local Jackson-area causes. Once a year, DJs broadcast live from the K105.3 studio all day long without any breaks (outside of the songs they play on-air), accepting strange punishments in exchange for donations to the fund.

This Friday, November 11, the K105.3 Charity Radiothon will take place 6 a.m. til 6 p.m. at the new downtown MMG studio and will benefit a fund that the Henry Ford Jackson Hospice Home has set up to help families pay for their loved ones’ end-of-life care who could otherwise not afford it.

The Henry Ford Jackson Hospice Home is the only residential care facility of its kind in the area. Testimonials from those who have worked with the facility emphasize the dignity and respect their employees give to patients in their care. “It’s hard to talk about, but when you lose a loved one there is a lot to be done. After your family member has passed on, the last thing you need to worry about is yet another bill reminding you of the loss,” says MMG Promotions Director Ashley Smith.

A portion of the proceeds will also be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project in honor of Veterans Day, which is November 11.

Jenny Lewis and Jared “J-Rod” Hammond of K105.3 will be joined by coworkers and colleagues throughout the day as they broadcast live, accepting challenges in exchange for donations, which can be made online at K1053.com/donate. Such dares include kissing a pig, getting slapped with a whole salmon, the TikTok tortilla challenge, a boudoir photo shoot, and more.

Smith says the crew will also be doing many of these challenges on Facebook Live for listeners to watch. Those wanting to receive notifications when K105.3 is doing a live video can follow @K1053Jackson. For those who don’t have access to a radio, K105.3 can also be streamed live online at K1053.com, or via their free app on Android or Apple devices.

The 2022 K105.3 Charity Radiothon is presented by Monster Motors, and is also supported by BIGGBY Coffee, Penn Chiropractic, Minuteman Sewer & Drain, Mortgage 1, County National Bank, Art Moehn Chevrolet, Lucero’s Mexican Bar & Grill, Jackson Public Schools, True Community Credit Union, Cate Autumn Studios, and Eagle’s Nest Bar & Grill.
