Jackson, Mich. — Movers for Mutts, a collection campaign for the Jackson County Animal Shelter (JCAS) spearheaded by Two Men and a Truck has come to a close, but the needs of animals in the shelter don’t stop there. Amy Kinder from the Jackson County Animal Shelter joined WKHM recently along with Jeff Snyder, local owner of Two Men and a Truck, to give us an update.

Through the months of September and October, donations of items for pets in need at the Jackson County Animal Shelter were collected at Playful Paws, VCA Jackson Animal Hospital, Tails a-Waggin’, Doggone Amazing, and Fifth Third Bank. In addition to any items that will make a pet comfortable, Kinder says that pet food donations are always sought-after to supplement the community pantry at JCAS. Movers for Mutts is modeled after Movers for Moms, a Mother’s Day collection that Two Men and a Truck carries out annually for personal care items to donate to local women’s shelters.

Snyder says other Two Men and a Truck franchises have been doing Movers for Mutts for a few years, but this was the first time Jackson has given it a try in his 20-plus years of owning the local Jackson franchise. Next up is Movers for Meals, a collection for the Interfaith Shelter, Jackson Community Food Pantry, and Salvation Army of Jackson. So far, donations can be taken to all four Polly’s Country Markets as well as all three ABC Academy locations. Those interested in being a drop-off location for donations may call 517-787-7550.

Stay tuned to WKHM for the latest.
