Brooklyn Comerica Bank Robbery Suspect Apprehended and in Custody

Columbia Township Police released a statement yesterday following the armed robbery of the Comerica Bank, located at 11351 Brooklyn Road in Brooklyn.

According to the press release, the Columbia Township Police Department was dispatched to the bank at approximately 2:10 pm for a robbery.  “A single suspect entered the bank and displayed a firearm while seeking money. Once the robbery was complete the suspect fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash” stated Columbia Police Chief Jay Niles in the release.

The Columbia Township Police, in a precautionary measure, ordered that the two elementary school buildings located in the township be put on a soft lockdown (no school transportation could travel in or out of the area during the active investigation).

A vehicle matching the description of the one used in the robbery was later seen traveling on Wamplers Lake Road in the township.  “Further investigation into this vehicle and the occupant discovered numerous articles of evidence of the crime and furthermore the evidence identified the suspect of this crime as well”, Niles went on to explain.

As of the press release the suspect is in custody and it remains an active investigation.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Michigan State Police, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation is assisting with the investigation.
