Sara Tackett, a Jackson District Library for 24 years, announced the final chapter of her tenure as Director of the JDL will end on December 16th of 2022.
Tackett has been a part of the JDL in one form or another since 1998. In that time, she has overseen a successful milage that every municipality approved in 2016, resurrected the Bookmobile, renovated the Brooklyn branch and moved the Spring Arbor Branch to a newly renovated location. Despite all these milestones, she sites providing Jackson County residents with library services throughout the COVID 19 Pandemic as one of the JDL’s biggest victories.
“I will miss the staff at the library the most,” Tackett said in a press release from the JDL. “Over the years, their hard work and creativity has led to the library being seen as an important asset to the community. All of us working together to continue to provide library services for the last two years speaks to everyone’s dedication to Jackson County.”
The soon to be retired JDL Director has had a tremendous impact on the organization’s reputation outside of the county, that according to Collection Service Manager Lorraine Butchart. “Under Sara’s leadership JDL has an outstanding reputation among library staff statewide,” Butchart said. “She leaves JDL in better condition than when she walked in the door.”
What does the next chapter have in store for Sara Tackett? She and her husband Mike plan to stay in the Jackson with hopes of travel on the horizon.
