On Friday, June 25, a semi crash spilled 100 gallons of diesel fuel into a wetland area under the eastbound M-14 bridge in Ann Arbor.
None of the fuel made it into the Huron River, according to emergency personnel. Only minor injuries were reported.
The accident also destroyed the median wall, which MDOT finished restoring earlier in the week.
In May, the Ann Arbor City Council passed a resolution to request that MDOT rework the bridge to prevent accidents. The bridge has a history of being blocked off during heavy rainfall.
According to the Michigan Traffic Crash Facts database, the bridge averages around 29 crashes per year.
