JACKSON, Mich., Nov. 5, 2020 – The Jackson YMCA announced that Jackson-based Kelly Fuels has contributed $50,000 to the Jackson YMCA capital campaign for a new downtown facility. Kelly Fuels, whose companies include Kelly Express Marts, Hammond Hardware, Hammond Propane and B&B Hardware, strives to be an outstanding community partner.
“Our associates and ownership have deep roots here in Jackson and understand firsthand what the Y means to the entire community,” said Kelly Fuels president Rich Tallman. “The Jackson Y has positively touched so many lives by promoting a healthy and active lifestyle with programs for everyone. At Kelly Fuels, we take pride in helping however we can, within the communities in which we operate and do business. It just makes perfect sense to step up and contribute to such a great project here at home.”
In January, the Consumers Energy Foundation announced it would match contributions to the YMCA’s capital campaign, up to $3 million. The gift from Kelly Fuels counts towards the Consumers’ match, bringing the grant match to just over $2.7 million.
The Jackson YMCA continues to progress in its fundraising efforts to replace its nearly 60-year old building. The YMCA’s capital campaign has now raised over $19 million in pledges and contributions. Donations to the YMCA will be used to fund the construction of a contemporary new facility and create a healthy living campus in downtown Jackson.
“The management, ownership and employees of Kelly Fuels have a long history of supporting organizations that impact our community. Like so many others in our community, Kelly Fuels shares the Y’s vision of a safe and welcoming new facility that offers programs and services for all,” said Jackson YMCA CEO Shawna Tello. “This very generous gift moves the Y that much closer to building a new Y and creating a healthy living campus in the heart of downtown Jackson.”
