Jackson District Library to open in phases beginning Monday, June 15

JACKSON COUNTY, MI – The Jackson District Library’s locations throughout Jackson County will begin opening in phases come Monday, June 15. Phase 1 will allow patrons to place holds on physical materials online or via a phone call before picking up materials in person.

“We are not fully open yet but the library is looking towards reopening in a safe and effective way,” JDL Director Sara Tackett said. “The safety of our patrons is our top priority.”

JDL patrons will be able to place holds on the library’s website at www.myjdl.com or via a phone call to their local branch, before driving to that location to pick up the materials. Once patrons arrive, they’ll be required to stay outside and follow the instructions posted on yard signs at each branch.

“Once you arrive at the library, stay in your car, text the number listed on our yard signs, and we’ll let you know when you can pick up materials in a no contact pick up area,” Tackett said. “Our librarians are ready to assist users over the phone, and can have recommendations waiting for you when they arrive as well.”

JDL officials are asking that only one person pick up materials at a time, and all library staff and patrons will be required to wear a mask inside our buildings.

In addition to material takeout services, all JDL locations will have adjusted hours during this reopening phase. The new hours can be viewed online at www.myjdl.com/opening.

Material that is currently checked out is not due until Tuesday, June 30, and late fees will not begin to be assessed until July. Book drops will be open by June 15 at all of our 13 locations, officials said.

Those with questions about your individual account or our Phase 1 plan can call 517-788-4087 or email our staff at adultservices@myjdl.com.
